Hi,
I'm testing the 1.5a and looking for a solution.
I have a Server with Everything run on it
It's just set up for scanning drive n: what is connected with a NAS Drive
On my Client I added the network index and it works fast and well.
As soon I switch off the NAS (during day time e.g.), I cannot search a file or folder. it's gone.
There is just a Way to switch of first the Server with Everything before I switch of the NAS.
Is there another solution?
If Server is off, index is gone
Re: If Server is off, index is gone
(moved to Everything 1.5 Alpha forum)
On your Server (the one that indexes your NAS), check the Automatically remove offline mapped network drives under mneu:Tools > Options > Indexes > Network Drives.
Uncheck it to keep the N:-drive in the index when off-line.
(assuming your N:-drive is listed under Network Drives)

Re: If Server is off, index is gone
Everything 1.5.0.1339a improves handling of drives that go offline during a scan.
Could you please try this version to see if it helps keep your indexes.
The scan is ignored if the drive goes offline.
This should prevent Everything from removing your existing index on a partial scan.

Re: If Server is off, index is gone
tested --> unfortunately the same - Data is gone after shutting down the NAS
what I also note:
the version before showed me 50 000 Items and 2 TB (That's correct)
Everything 1.5.0.1339a showed me 10 000 Items and 9 TB
update:
currently it showed me 43 000 Items and 1.2 TB

Re: If Server is off, index is gone
Thank you for your reply mik,
The index of your NAS shouldn't be cleared when your NAS goes offline.
Could you please send me debug logs on the Server when the NAS goes offline:

Could you please send me debug logs on the Server when the NAS goes offline:
- On the Server, in Everything, from the Tools menu, under the Debug submenu, check Start Debug Logging.
- Shutdown the NAS
- Wait for Everything on the clients to show an empty index.
- On the Server, in Everything, from the Tools menu, under the Debug submenu, check Stop Debug Logging.
The Everything Debug Log will open in Notepad. - Please save this file to the Desktop and send to support@voidtools.com
