Hi.
When I click on the right button on a file to call the contextual menu, the program hangs in "not responding" for Windows.
How can I identify the problem?.
Thanks.
Calling the context menu of a file causes Everythings to be "Not Responding" by Windows
Re: Calling the context menu of a file causes Everythings to be "Not Responding" by Windows
There can be a couple of causes for that, but first: some questions:
- What is your Windows version? 32-bit or 64-bit?
- What is your Everything version?
- 32-bit or 64-bit?
- Does this happen with specific file types (like .pdf .doc .jpg .avi) or with all file types? With folders?
- If you do the same in File Explorer, do you get the context menu?
- If File explorer context menu works OK, what non-Windows entries do you get (like 7-zip, virus scanner, Git, ...)
Re: Calling the context menu of a file causes Everythings to be "Not Responding" by Windows
Could you please send some debug output:
- In Everything, type in the following search and press ENTER:
/debug - Right click a file
- What is shown in the debug console when Everything hangs?

Re: Calling the context menu of a file causes Everythings to be "Not Responding" by Windows
Hi.
The answers to the questions are the following:
What is your Windows version? 32-bit or 64-bit? 64-bit
What is your Everything version?
32-bit or 64-bit? Now is 1.4.1.935(x86), but also with 1.4.1.932(x86)
Does this happen with specific file types (like .pdf .doc .jpg .avi) or with all file types? With folders?
all file types and folders
If you do the same in File Explorer, do you get the context menu?
yes, I get the context menu in File Explorer
If File explorer context menu works OK, what non-Windows entries do you get (like 7-zip, virus scanner, Git, ...)
I have not had any problem with the context menu of the file explorer
If I can give you more information about this situation, let me know.
Everything Great program.
Regards

Re: Calling the context menu of a file causes Everythings to be "Not Responding" by Windows
Hi.
Problem solved.
Since I upgraded to version 1.4.1.932 (x86) this problem was generated.
I have been installing the program with the "Multilingual" version for Spanish.
Now I uninstalled everything, and I reinstalled but now with version 1.4.1.935x64 English (US); and the problem was solved.
Regards.

Re: Calling the context menu of a file causes Everythings to be "Not Responding" by Windows
Changing the "bit-ness" (32-bit ==> 64-bit) might be a bigger influence than changing the language.
64-bit programs have a (technically) different context menu compared to 32-bit programs.
Your File Explorer is 64-bit; your Everything was 32-bit.
I think you can safely change your language back to Spanish (under Menu:Tools > Options > General, change the language to Spanish.
And if that gives you problems again: change it back the same way
