indexing subfolders and subfiles

Not entirely sure whether this has been suggested before, I used the search function but found nothing.

My suggestion is whether it would be possible to index the amount of subfolders and -files, ideally separately.
Perhaps crawling(I don't know the proper terminology here) through thousands of diverging paths could pose some problems
regarding the speed of the initial indexing, but I wouldn't know...

In any case, I'm extremely glad to have found this truly wonderful application, it makes searching and organising files so much easier,

The status bar should give you some information (I believe ? by default).
A count of objects found (if you're not in the file list) or a count of the objects selected (if you are).

That would include both files & directories.
But you can filter by using file: (if you only needed files) or folder: (if you only needed folders).
And further, by combing that with, say a particular path.

So; folder: \tmp\, shows me that & have 3 subdirectories within \tmp\.

Yeah, that certainly is possible.
What I was searching for was a way to sort by "subobjects", similarly how you can sort by, say, name or size by using the columns, which I believe isn't possible so far?

I tried to understand what you mean, but failed.
Could you explain with some examples?
Let's say you have c:\folder1 with in it
c:\folder1\text.txt
c:\folder1\photo.jpg
c:\folder2\text.txt
c:\folder2\photo.jpg

What should be reported?
