How to find multiple file types

Post by pewe »

If I enter *.jpg n the search bar it shows me a list of all files of this type.
I want to find all images/photos, ie all jpg, jpeg, bmp and gif files in one hit.

Is this possible, and if so what string do I use in the search.

Thanks.

Please try searching for:
pic:

-or-

Select the Picture filter from the Search menu, filter bar (View -> Filters) or right click the status bar.

This is a pre-defined macro that will search for the following extensions:
ani, bmp, gif, ico, jpe, jpeg, jpg, pcx, png, psd, tga, tif, tiff and wmf.

To customize this macro:
  • In Everything, from the Search menu, click Organize filters....
  • Select Picture
  • Click Edit....
  • Add or remove extensions from semicolon delimited ext: search.
  • Click OK.
To specify a list of extensions to search, use the ext:<semicolon-delimited-extension-list> search function.

For example:
ext:jpg;jpeg;bmp;gif

Thanks guys, that works a treat.

Is it possible to do this but for one drive at a time - I have 5 attached to my PC.

You're a star - much appreciated.
I have now created a filter for each drive. ;)
