Duplicate listings for files

Post by schochet »

Apparently, two (or more) of my folders (drives?) are indexed twice, giving me duplicate listings for the same file. I presume that I asked Everything to index these folders/ drives twice, but I cannot find of way of correcting or undoing that error. Assistance -- possibly even step-by-step instructions -- would be very much appreciated.

NTFS volumes are automatically indexed by "Everything".
Adding a NTFS volume as a folder index will show duplicated results.

Please remove any NTFS volumes from your folder indexes:
  • In "Everything", from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Folders tab.
  • Select any NTFS volumes and click Remove.
  • Click OK.
To check which NTFS volumes are automatically included:
  • In "Everything", from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the NTFS tab.
  • NTFS volumes that have Include in database checked are already included as a NTFS index.

Thanks. That worked. Apparently, in my zeal to have all my files indexed, I included / added my external drives, which resulted in the duplications.
