Keep the database of external drive searchable when unplugge

Please include a feature to keep the database of a external drive searchable even when it is unplugged.

I have lots of file both in my computer and my external hard drives, but I don't keep my external hard drives plugged in all the time.

Is it possible to keep the external drive searchable even when it is unplugged, so I know my which file is on the external hard drives.

Hi I wanted to see if there was any update on this. It would be great to be able to catalog external drives and search them even if offline
