Will indexing a network affect performance for other users?

Post by wasteland57 »

If I run Everything on my PC and index the company file server, will it slow down the network at all?

That is certainly possible. Contact your IT department before you do.

hi wasteland57
I run Everything in my work laptop and i index a local state file server, and also two folders located on out hq servers over a internal lan, they are in other states. Our network is aust wide 10mbit total only for all traffic and i have not had any problems or affect on the networks in remote locations when its doing the indexing. I or our it department who monitor throughput and bottle necks have not noticed any bumps in demand.

Ie Clean bill of health from me. I disable "try to update in realtime" or whatever its called.
