I've used Everything for years and it has performed flawlessly.
Lately however, it occasionally loses track of about 3/4th of the files in its list. Normally status bar shows ~1900000 objects, but then shows ~442000, and it can't find files that I know are there. I normally just rebuild the index and it is fine for a few weeks. Today I rebuilt the index, and it only finds ~442000 objects. I think, maybe its out of date. It is, and I download the latest version 1.4.1.895. Same thing. Only ~442000 objects ****correction*** now it is down to 363000 objects!!!
Oh, and this is the x64 version
index loses 3/4 of objects
Re: index loses 3/4 of objects
Do you have a filter enabled?
Please make sure the "Everything" filter is selected from the Search menu.

Re: index loses 3/4 of objects
Wow. I've never touched that. (yes, that was the problem. Thanks!) Is that new? Can it be activated/cleared unknowingly from elsewhere??
Re: index loses 3/4 of objects
Filters have been in "Everything" since version 1.3 (2013).
Filters can be activated from the Search menu, filter bar (View -> Filters), right clicking the status bar or filter shortcut key.
There should not be any filter shortcut key by default.
If you find you are accidentally changing the filter often, please consider setting your default filter to "Everything":
