I use version 1.3.4.686 and it does not index an external drive nor, obviously, find files on it:
Why is that?

Your external USB H: drive is most likely formatted with FAT32.
Everything will only index NTFS volumes by default.
You will need to either:
1). Convert your external USB H: drive to NTFS:

2). Add the FAT32 volume as a folder index:

and there is no way to change exFAT to NTFS without loosing data.
So you have to backup, reformat and restore
