How to search a network drive

Post by Kennyboy »

How can I set up Everything to search more than just the "C" drive? Most of my stuff is on a network drive at the company where I work.

Currently Everything only searches NTFS drives. Network drives don't fall into this category.

I think David has on the "TODO" list to work on non-NTFS drives. Part of the charm (and speed) of Everything is that it has a relatively small footprint and is blazingly fast. It achieves those because it uses NTFS tables for some of the work. Those tables don't exist for other types of file systems.

Got it to work via ETP server- though one odd program, once I connect, it doesn't search my C drive any more, just the server

Anyway to get it to search both?

No.
Unfortunately, "Everything" can only search one database per search window.
I am considering searching multiple databases per window in a future release...

You can open a new "Everything" window to search your local volumes.

This is a feature I would love to see. I have a windows home server and use the ETP feature to search it but would love to combine this search with my local search. I could use it to parse duplicate file and delete any older versions of downloaded apps
