Results not changing after moving files V1.3.4.686

Post by jgt1942 »

In Version 1.3.4.686 (x64) lately when I CUT files from the results and then paste the files to another drive the results in Everything is not updated. Example. I've changed the focus of Everything to "C:\Users\John\Downloads" and I enter "track" (no quotes) for my search string. In the results I see five files. I select four of the files, right-click, select CUT, in my file manager window which has the "R:\Libraries\WoodWork\Track Saw" folder open I right-click in the window, select paste. The files are moved from "C:\Users\John\Downloads" to the "R:\Libraries\WoodWork\Track Saw" folder but the Everything window still shows them in the window. In the file manager window I can see that the files are no longer in the "C:\Users\John\Downloads".

Are you using NTFS or folder indexing -is C: indexed under Tools -> Options -> NTFS or Tools -> Options -> Folders?
Normally your C: drive would be indexed as a NTFS volume, unless you have changed it to a folder index.
Folders indexing has limitations and can miss changes.

If you are using NTFS indexing and the problem is reproducible, please send some debug output after a change is made to the file system. I suspect there may be an issue with the Everything NTFS monitor.

I've read through the help regarding the indexing for folders and the words are just not sinking into my thick brain and I remain confused. I don't recall adding the folders that you see in the image and I'm not sure that I need them.

In the options I have no entries for the File List or Exclude sections.

For my file manager I use Xplorer2 (see http://zabkat.com/)
I just opened Everything to show the contents of "C:\Users\John\Downloads", I selected three files (the highlighted files), pressed the delete key, the Everything window was NOT updated to reflect the delete. I opened Windows Explorer and confirmed that the files were deleted. See the following images.

I just discovered why I have the folders in the options, see >>> http://www.voidtools.com/forum/viewtopi ... ing#p12386 I was attempting to resolve the issue with Everything always scanning when I opened Everything. BTW I still have this issue and will update the other post.
