Anyone knows the reason the developer decided to discontinue it ?
Anything similiar with Windows Explorer integration and direct NTFS indexing exist ?
Masterfind discontinued
Re: Masterfind discontinued
Because tools like Everything, Hddb or Ultra Search and others
are free and provide the same type of search and speed.
Why should one spend 15 $ for it ?

Sure but the possibilities within explorer with it's combined shell extension support are huge for a variety of use cases
for now you need a lot of different applications for different types of content cataloging (managing) a very well thought integrated explorer interaction model and interfacing with the power of MFT direct NTFS searching could replace virtually all of them for multiple tasks
it would make explorer uber powerfull much more powerfull then even Apples Finder
You just have to be careful not stalling explorer
Also it gives me headache to think about the overhead currently you have windows search and all these different cataloging (managing) applications that have their own search system but instead you could integrate them with the Windows Search (SearchIndexer.exe) (as the main system wide indexer also for 3rd party applications) as well and it is kinda totally surprising if Windows Search doesn't would use MFT based NFTS search like everything, hddb, ultra search does already for locating files,
But Windows Search doesn't do it trying a regex search for *.* on 3TB take ages compared to everything and the other solutions that take just seconds to find and display every file only the sorting depending on the amount of data can be very slow
