Search in Windows folder

Post by w64bit »

When searching in C:\ with 1.3.4.686 x64, not all files were displayed.
Try searching for USBSTOR.SYS. This file is in C:\Windows\System32\drivers but is not found by Everything.
Is there any fix?
Thank you

These are hardlinks.
Currently these are not indexed (only the original file is).

The next release of Everything will support hardlinks.

That's a weird one.
I see it, but I don't see its "properties"; size, date.
And that tends to indicate that I don't have sufficient permissions, & that does & will happen, just seems odd with that particular file.

Otherwise, there are various other USBSTOR.SYS files that I see, that are (hard) links.
And it is known that for links only one of the links is enumerated.

(Much of Windows are made up of links.)

So possibly on your end what you're looking for in C:\Windows\System32\drivers is a link (& most likely linked within the C:\Windows\winsxs\ hierarchy.

On my end, I do see an exact duplicate(s) of the file, but not a link (which is the odd part).
