Solid Black Icon
Solid Black Icon
Lately I've been seeing a large number of solid black icons beside files in the listing. Why is this? Many have the same extension as ones that have the correct icons (see attached). - Joel

Does Windows Explorer show the icons correctly?
If not, then perhaps, http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/49 ... build.html.

Windows Explorer shows everything just fine. This is isolated to only Everything.therube wrote:Does Windows Explorer show the icons correctly?

Re: Solid Black Icon
What version of Everything?
Have you changed default Fonts or Colors?
(Options | General -> Fonts and Colors)
Are you using the Folder or File Lists option?
(Options | Indexes -> ...)

I haven't changed default Fonts or Colors. Just to be sure I just did a "restore defaults", with no change.
I've specified nothing in the Indexes options. Folders & File Lists are empty.
Re: Solid Black Icon
As far as I know, the icons are rendering correctly, otherwise they would be solid white squares, so it must be an issue with SHGetFileInfo..
I suspect something is wrong with the icons overlay image.
The icon for _2013 - Donors With Gift Summary Data 25 or More.csv (dated 1/21/2014) with the green tick, is this the same in Explorer with the green tick?
Any icon handlers that you have installed that may be modifying the overlay image for icons?
Does the x86 version of Everything fix the problem?

Re: Solid Black Icon
Well, you hit on the area I was having problems. The green tick that was showing on that CSV file also showed in Explorer. I looked, and that was a file in Dropbox, which does overlay icon images with indicators from its syncing process. The black ones were ones where I use Sugarsync, another syncing tool, which also has an option to do the same type of thing, even though it actually wasn't showing any indicators as it should. I turned that option off in Sugarsync, but it said to make that effective I needed to log off and back on. But I figured if I did that I wouldn't be able to answer your question about the X86 version. So I installed that, Everything X86, before logging off and it showed all icons correctly. So just to test things out, before I logged off, I uninstalled Everything, set Sugarsync back to the way it originally was, supposedly showing file and folder icon statuses, and then logged off and back on. First, I checked the icons that Sugarsync was supposed to update and it still wasn't doing that. Then I installed the X64 version of Everything and it's back to showing all icons properly.void wrote:As far as I know, the icons are rendering correctly, otherwise they would be solid white squares, so it must be an issue with SHGetFileInfo..

Long story short, I have to assume that the Sugarsync file and folder icon status option has some bug, because it's not showing the statuses properly and apparently it caused Everything to show the black icons, but right now, with the preference back to the way it was, Everything X64 is showing icons fine. However, if it starts showing black icons again at least I know where to go to fix it. Thanks - Joel
