I have a lot of files on DVD and I'd like to be able to scan them and be able to search for these files on demand or at a later date. When Everything first scans the DVD, it should prompt me for a DVD label/name so I know which DVD to stick into the drive when it finds the file I'm looking for. This will make it possible to archive a lot of stuff to DVD and still have all the DVD's searchable without having the DVD in the drive. Can this be done?
TIA

How to scan & log DVD's or CD's?
Re: How to scan & log DVD's or CD's?
Hi Mickey,
I don't think that Everything will do this for you (as much as I would love it if it did). Everything relies on disks being organized with NTFS. Data CDs and DVDs do not use that method of putting files on the disk. Everything will also not find files on most USB thumb drives (because they are organized with FAT32 disk layout). Some USB thumb drives are organized with NTFS and that will work with Everything.
I guess you will just have to get one of those 1.5TB hard drives and keep everything there and then Everything can search it.

Currently "Everything" is limited to NTFS volumes only.
Indexing FAT/FAT32/CD/DVD etc is planned for the next release of "Everything".
