Indexing of Pendrive

Post by nagan »

In my XP system Everything lists all the files in my Pendrive eventhough not connected , but in Win7 only the drive name is visible. No files are listed.

Check your errorlog.txt file for any errors.
Try running Everything as administrator if you previously did not. (Normally you do not need administrator privileges for pendrives)
You might need to force a database rebuild.

If this issue still persists, please send some debug output when forcing a database rebuild.

Strangely I do not get the file errorlog.txt for this version 645b , though it is present for the previous ones. How is it activated? Regarding the issue after forcing a rebuild , and then removing my pendrive the results still seem to be there. Might be after hibernating/resume I will try later and post if the issue persists..
Is there a PRIMER on what exactly are the advantages of running Everything service , other than enable searching in "Other than administrator" users.

How is it activated?
Everything 1.2 or earlier has the ini setting: error_logging_enabled.
Set to nonzero would enable error logging (the default option).
In everything 1.3 or later, error logging is always enabled.

The errorlog.txt file is only created when there is an unexpected system error.

No advantage other than non admin use, maybe a noticeable disadvantage of about an extra 1MB of ram usage.
