Context menu delay when right-clicking video files [Win11]

Post by bruce656 »

The delay doesn't happen in Version 1.4.1.1026. But in Version 1.5.0.1383a (x64), when right clicking on a single video file, there is a notifiable 3 second delay. The delay doesn't occur when right clicking on a group of videos. I'm thinking it's it's a program in the "Open With" sub-menu, as that doesn't appear when right-clicking on a group of videos.

Any ideas?

edit, I rebooted and the delay disappeared.

The issue is most likely caused by a shell extension.

To disable context menu shell extensions in Everything:
  • In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Advanced tab on the left.
  • To the right of Show settings containing, search for:
    shell
  • Select: context_menu_shell_extensions
  • Set the value to: false
  • Click OK.
If this helps, please try re-enabling context_menu_shell_extensions and toggling non-Microsoft context menu shell extensions with Nirsoft's ShellExView.

There has been fixes to the context menu in 1384a+
