Currently if you sort these three items they come out as a Natural Sort -
193q-07-15 ...
1910-11-23 ...
1945-03-13 ...
With 193 counted numerically earlier than 1910
That is a common need but of course in this case they are dates with q representing an unknown part of the year so you would want them properly alphabetic as follows -
1910-11-23 ...
193q-07-15 ...
1945-03-13 ...
without affecting other tabs or subsequent sorts
Can I suggest there is an explicit ability to sort alphabetically.
Certainly under the Advanced sort you could have under each Ascending Descending a Binary tick box or some other title.
Perhaps also under View - Sort By - at the bottom add a "Binary"-type toggle so that it adjusts whatever Sort you have currently in action
Perhaps also under the View - Sort By - Other... have a tickbox unobtrusively for it at the bottom
For immediate workarounds I couldn't find relevant sorting config options that I might temporarily change and although I'm sure I might have seen a sort expression at one time I wasn't able to spot it off-hand.

Binary/Vanilla sorting
Re: Binary/Vanilla sorting
Include the following in your search to sort by character code:
a:=utf82hex($name:) sort:a
