Everything V1.5.0.1372a (x64)

As shown in the figure, I have now placed the name column on the far left, and everything is working fine. Now, when I completely exit Everything and then reopen it, the name column will be on the far right. After my testing, the other columns will save their order normally, only the name column will be reset.

Are you setting your default columns under Tools -> Options -> Home -> Columns?

If so, please make sure these are in the correct order.

Are you using a filter or bookmark to change the columns?

I took a look at the settings in Columns, and the default is "Use previous value." I modified it to: 【Name, Modified Time, Size, Creation Time, Path】. I placed 【Name】 in the first column, and then saved after applying.

Then I completely closed Everything and opened it again, only to find that 【Name】 had moved to the far right, which is the initial default situation. When I opened the settings in Columns again, I found that the modification I made earlier:

Name, Modified Time, Size, Creation Time, Path】
had changed to
【Path, Modified Time, Size, Creation Time, Name】.

This means it reverted back, and the changes were not saved successfully. I don't know what happened.

Also, I didn't set any filters or bookmarks as you mentioned. All settings are default, except for the Columns settings mentioned above.

Please make sure Everything is installed correctly and running as a standard user:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the General tab on the left.
    ---
  • Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything.
    ---
  • Uncheck Run as administrator.
  • Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
  • Click OK.
  • Exit Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
  • Restart Everything.
Does the issue persist?

Could you please upload your %APPDATA%\Everything\Everything-1.5a.ini here:
bug report
Set the email to: name column on right

After my operations and settings, I found that the issue still persists. Whenever I completely exit and reopen, the "Name" column will move to the far right. I have already sent the Everything-1.5a.ini to the bug report. Could you please help me take a look at the problem?

THX

Thank you for sending your Everything.ini

It's something to do with the Everything.lng file that you are using.

All the column names are messed up.

Everything 1.5 does not have official localization support yet.
Where did you get your Everything.lng from?

-or-

Are you setting localization_strings in your Everything.ini in the same location as your Everything.exe?

The Everything.lng file is part of an integration package I downloaded from the internet.
but, after deleting the Everything.lng file, reopening Everything, and setting the language to English US, the issue persists.(so it seems unrelated to Everything.lng ?)

Additionally, you mentioned the "localization_strings" setting. I checked my Everything-1.5a.ini file and found that the value of localization_strings is empty, i.e., localization_strings=. You meant that I should set localization_strings to the root directory path of Everything, right? I modified and tested it, but the name issue persists.

Moreover, I found that other users on the package's release website have also reported the issue of the name reverting to the right side after restarting the software.

Sorry for taking up your valuable time to look into my issue
Sincerely, icugg6.

That version has been modified.
Please be careful downloading unofficial versions of Everything.

Please try the official Everything.exe

Does the issue persist with the official exe?

Sure enough, the official version has no issues, everything is normal. It seems to be a problem with the third-party version. Sorry for taking up your valuable time to look into my issue. Apologies.
