voidtools crash on startup
voidtools crash on startup
latest voidtools 1.5a keeps crashing on start up and indexing. What should I do ?
Re: voidtools crash on startup
1. Create a backup of your Everything database
2. Exit Everything completely (right-click the systemtray icon an choose Exit)
3. Start Everything with "c:\path to\Everything64.exe" -debuglog -verbose
4. Wait for the crash to happen\
5.Inspect the last lines of Everything Debug Log-1.5a.txt (it is in your %TEMP% folder) to check for irregularities.
If that gives you no clue: revert to an older Everything version and wait for @void to analyze the debug-log.
2. Exit Everything completely (right-click the systemtray icon an choose Exit)
3. Start Everything with "c:\path to\Everything64.exe" -debuglog -verbose

Re: voidtools crash on startup
There are several ways, like pressing the 'Win + R' keyboard shortcut or creating a shortcut to everything64.exe and editing it to include the parameters.
But the way I would do this:
- In Explorer, browse to the folder containing everything64.exe
- In the address bar, type cmd
- press ENTER
- type or paste everything64.exe -debuglog -verbose
- press ENTER

Re: voidtools crash on startup
Please try deleting your Everything database:
If the crash persists, could you please send a mini crash dump:
Could you please send your Help -> Troubleshooting information to support@voidtools.com
(contains what properties are you indexing, etc..)
- In Windows Explorer, type in the following address and press ENTER.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Everything - Restart Everything.
If the crash persists, could you please send a mini crash dump:
- Please keep the crash dialog open.
- Download Process Explorer from Microsoft:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer - In Process Explorer, select Everything64.exe (If there is two, select the one using the most memory)
- Right click Everything64.exe and under Create Dump, select Create Mini Dump.
- Choose a filename and click Save.
- Please send this file to support@voidtools.com

Re: voidtools crash on startup
ok so the only thing that solved this problem was if I deleted the everything database. But I still want to know why the database was the cause of the crash ? any plausable explanation for this ?
Re: voidtools crash on startup
There has been bug fixes to the database.
What version did you have previously?
I would need to see the crash dumps to determine the cause of the issue.

Re: voidtools crash on startup
Previously, I had the 1362 version and it worked fine but then shortly after maybe a day later or something 1363 was released. but, even now, I have a 200 GB zip file mounted with pismo file mounter which mounts the zip file with drive letter A: and I can't see anything inside the DCIM/Camera folder. Here is a screenshot:
