Is there any way to change or disable the color hovering over tabs?

For dark or light theme?

Everything uses the accent color if defined under Tools -> Options -> Fonts and colors.

Otherwise, Everything uses the system highlight color.

To override the system highlight dark color in Everything:

• In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, click Options.
• Click the Advanced tab on the left.
• To the right of Show settings containing, search for:
  highlight
• Select highlight_background_dark_color.
• Select a new color.
• Click OK.

Light theme.
I set all Accent color to None. Still displayed.

I'll look into making the light theme use the stock tabs.

Please try setting the accent color to something other than none.
Change only the accent color for the tabs item under Tools -> Options -> Fonts and colors.

disable the color hovering over tabs?

Thinking I'm going to end up in the same boat, wanting to disable coloring.
(I'll play it out, as in, but thinking it's just too "busy" [& doesn't really impart anything meaningful [by coloring]].)
