To preface: I have some storage that runs off fairly slow hard drives for archival purposes, and I index some of it, but not all of it, on a 7 day timer. The drives themselves are not indexed, so this is the only way it makes it into the database.
Sometimes I need to make a list to my Exclude filters (like right now I just removed a filter for *\__pycache__ because I needed to figure out where some Python cache files were ending up), but unfortunately this is accompanied by said archival storage having to be rescanned every single time, and it takes quite a while.
If there were a per-entry option in Indexes > Folders to not rescan when Exclude changes are made, that would save me a lot of time.
No rescan on Exclude filter changes (Indexes > Folders option for folder entries)
Re: No rescan on Exclude filter changes (Indexes > Folders option for folder entries)
Instead of excluding such files/folders, Everything 1.5 also has an option to omit results.
The omitted results can be included/excluded dynamically, without the need to rescan.
Personally, I converted all my exclusions to result omissions and a simple double-click on OMIT in the statusbar will (for the time being) show *all* my files. MEnu:Index => Enable Result Omissions will revert back to my curated list. Much more flexible than Exclusions.
In case you have trouble converting Exclusions to Result Omissions, please post here as there likely will be a solution.
