[suggestion] rename dialogue box enhancements ..

greetings..

i have some suggestions to enhance the "rename dialogue box" experience in a positive way "imo"

any of the next suggestions represent its own and not related to other suggested points ..


1. display in the dialogue footage how many files of the total will be affected

2. highlights or bold affected files in results part called "new filenames:" for easier notice

3. ability to load or paste custom text list and call it in the "new format" field with variable like %extfile or something similar..

p.s. as mentioned all the previous suggestions is not connected .. if any of them acceptable and make sense i wish to see it in the next builds of the app.

Everything has a -rename option, so anything you can send to that will end up in Old Filenames:.

I like this idea.
Showing how many files NOT matching might also be useful.
eg: 2 files do not match the old format.

Good idea, I will consider making filenames that do not match the old format bold.

3. ability to load or paste custom text list and call it in the "new format" field with variable like %extfile or something similar..

I will consider support for referencing an external file list.

iam very happy with the unique developer/user experience i have here ..

I like this idea.
Showing how many files NOT matching might also be useful.
eg: 2 files do not match the old format.

about this .. i think including the total files is more informative and easier to understand as we normally don't know how many files we selected to rename ..

also "items" term is more suitable as we rename files and folders ..

so it's

2 of 15 items do not match the old format

or

13 of 15 items match the new format

or

renaming 13 of 15 items

or

13 of 15 items will be renamed


this is a suggestions to help you figure the best suitable statement.
