I'm not sure what you mean close the files?

Everything does not open files on your network drive.

To prevent Everything from updating your folder indexes on startup:
  • In Everything, type in the following search and press ENTER:
    /folder_update_rescan_asap=0
  • If successful, folder_update_rescan_asap=0 is shown in the status bar for a few seconds.

Everything will open file handles to directories when monitoring changes.
The system can open many handles for subfolders.

Disable monitoring if this is causing an issue:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Folders tab on the left.
  • Select your network drive.
  • Uncheck Attempt to monitor changes.
