Help!, Everything is killing my server!

Post by sergio »

Hi!, i'm having problems with my server and i think it's caused by Everything, it's being used by several users doing searcher over network units.
The problem is when the users do a file search, the opened files on the server goes to over 1000 per user and this reduces a lot the server performance.
I'm pretty shure that it's caused by a bad Everything configuration but... what's the correct one?
Thank you all!.

Tell us which version of Everything are you running.

Are your users running content searches, loading thumbnails, media metadata?

ReadDirectoryChanges on Windows Server 2019+ likes to open file handles to every single subfolder.

Some options:

Try disabling 'Attempt to monitor changes' on each client under Tools -> Options -> Folders -> Network share -> 'Attempt to monitor changes'.

Try reducing the number of folders in your shares on the server.

Use File lists, ETP or the Everything Server.
