Duplicate drive appeared after Windows Update ??

Post by Flourgrader »

Hi All,
I did a major update to Windows 10.
And when I opened up Everything 1.5.0.1285a(64)
I noticed a duplication of O:\ drive in the left-hand pane, Drive Tree.
O:\drive is a Network drive.
I set it up in the Index> Folders.
It does show up in the Index> Network Drives.
I have not made any settings in there for it!!
I have tried removing it from Index> Folders
Which it will do, but I am still left with one version of O:\ in the
Left hand pane for the Drive Tree.
I have looked in the Everything.ini
File and there is only one reference to
This drive.
So, I am at a bit of a loss in how to fix it?
I don’t wish to re-install and go back to default settings.
As I have spent a long time customizing the settings
Any advice would be welcome??
Thank You.

You might have to restart Everything to update this directory tree list (it is still in development):
Type the following in the Evrything search bar and press ENTER:
/restart

Please make sure your O: drive is only included once:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Network Drives tab on the left.
  • Uncheck Automatically include new mapped network drives.
  • Uncheck Automatically remove offline mapped network drives.
  • Select O: drive and uncheck Include in database.
  • Click OK.

Thank you NotNull & David for your assistance.
I tried both of these methods which removed one O:\
But I was still left with one O:\ in the Folder Tree.
It was like it was un-removable?
I tried stopping the services of Everything.
Signing out and back in again after making changes.
Sorry to say none of this worked for me.

How I resolved this for me was to Open the Everything.ini file.
Copy the sections of my customization I had made out of the file.
Save them to Notepad.
Go to Bookmarks>Organize Bookmarks
and export my bookmarks.
Delete all of Everything from:
C:\Program Files\Everything
Reinstall Everything.
Edit the Everything.ini file, paste into the same location my
The saved information from notepad.
Go to Bookmarks>Organize Bookmarks
and import the saved export file.
Close Everything and the restart.
I am not saying it’s a recommended method!!
As you can see from the screenshot it worked for me.
I can not fault the software it’s running perfectly well!
Thank You……. :)
