I think there was an option for this in 1.4 but I can't find it in 1.5

No, disabling or enabling Match Diacritics does not save memory.

Yes, Everything is slightly faster with Match Diacritics enabled.


To enable or disable Match Diacritics:

• In Everything, from the Search menu, check or uncheck Match Diacritics.

You might be thinking of Fast ASCII search from Everything 1.4.
The option is still available in the Everything.ini as fast_ascii_search2
There is no performance gain from using this option in Everything 1.5.
