Re: Keep offline volumes in the index

Post by CityguyUSA »

When I use the Folders section in Index Options to include networked drives they rebuild everytime I restart the computer on the first search which is very time consuming. It would be nice to just copy the indexes from the server to the local computer rather than rebuilding them. Is there a way to copy the data from the server to devices connected to the network? Also I would like it to remain available if the server drops offline for any reason even though the actual files wouldn't be available at the moment maybe they could appear grayed out in a disconnected condition?

Moved from Keep offline volumes in the index.

Everything shouldn't be rebuilding every time on startup.

Please make sure Everything is installed correctly and running as a standard user:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the General tab on the left.
  • Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything.
  • Uncheck Run as administrator.
  • Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
  • Click OK.
  • Exit Everything (from the File menu, click Exit).
  • Restart Everything.
Please let me know if the issue persists.
Please check your Everything 1.5 -> Debug -> Statistics -> Last Rebuild Reason. (If you are using Everything 1.5)

Yes, please try the Everything Server.
The Everything Server maintains an index on your server allowing multiple clients to quickly and efficiently index and monitor changes.
