I am not too sure , but I find the updating of Database in 658b a little slower than what it used to be in 649b or 656b in XP. I have not set ET to auto start , but switch it on as soon as I log in and it stays on till I shut down. 649b or 656b while expanding it self brought out all the elements. In 658b I get the updating database comment for say 1 ~ 2 seconds till all the items are loaded.
There might be other factors involved , but just thought to bring in my observation.
Regular update of Database
Re: Regular update of Database
Including the USN Journals in recent changes (Tools -> Options -> NTFS) will take a few seconds to load on start-up.
Try disabling this on each NTFS volume, if the performance is still of concern, please send the verbose debug output when both update.

Re: Regular update of Database
Here are the reports. I disabled the USB journal for recent changes , but still a second slower than the start of 649b.
658b- verbose
649b -verbose
I wonder why the text file for 658b is larger than that of 649b , though I terminated both of them after updating database.
658b- verbose

Thanks for the debug outputs.
You are still loading the USN Journals into recent changes for drives E,F,G and J.
This is taking 0.96 seconds.
Please make sure you disable loading the USN Journals into recent changes for each NTFS volume:

Re: Regular update of Database
Oh my.. can't be silly enough after having used it for so long , but tend to forget in a hurry. Thanks man, now it is its regular self. But you would be to blame if there were lots of volumes and you do not give a global option list to control and I think it is in your to do list...
