It's worth noting that if you highlight several folders in the result list and drag them to a new tab, they get combined as a single search creating one new tab.
It might well be useful that shift-dragging them to a new tab opens them out individually as separate tabs.
In terms of people remembering this, currently the dropping tooltip is "New Tab" so it could instead say "New Tab, to drop as individual tabs hold down shift" and when you hold down shift this could become "New Tabs".

Multifolder drag to new tab
Re: Multifolder drag to new tab
I have put on my TODO list:
Ctrl + drop on the folder sidebar caption = explore in new tab.
Right click drag drop to folder sidebar caption -> Explore in new tab.
Ctrl = new tab in Everything and most web browsers.
Shift = new window in Everything and most web browsers.
Thank you for the suggestions.

Re: Multifolder drag to new tab
Everything 1.5.0.1384a adds an 'Explore in new tab' option when right-click drag-dropping onto the folder sidebar caption.
Ctrl + drop on the folder sidebar caption will now also explore in new tab.
Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> tabs_load_in_background=false if you want the old behavior of loading tab in the foreground.

Re: Multifolder drag to new tab
That seems to work!
I've set tabs_load_in_background=true because usually I'll want that, although I can see cases where background is useful, such as if you ctrl-drop several folders one-by-one onto the folder bar title. Perhaps I'll end up making a toggle shortcut if there proves a need.
Although the "Explore in New Tab" doesn't resolve the original question of opening the selected folders in separate tabs, it's useful in its own right. With only two menu items present, it could be that a further "Explore in New Tabs" would resolve also the original problem, where you want to highlight say 3 folders and create 3 tabs of them (one for each), so in that scenario you would right-drag them to the folderbar title and choose "Explore in New Tabs"

I have put on my TODO list to add an option to open each folder in a separate tab.
