I am hoping to use the Anything CLI in conjunction with Powershell scripts for some admin tasks.
I haven't yet worked out from the Anything documentation how to specify a search for an arbitrary time range e.g. "files created or changed in the last 1200 seconds".
The Advanced Search UI supports date range searches equivalent to (e.g) "changes between <yesterday> and <today>", so this kind of search is possible, I just need to work out the syntax.
It would be very helpful if the Advanced Search UI had an option to display the search string that is equivalent to the search that is set up on the Advanced Search options. This would make the Advanced Search UI also work as an "interactive query builder" tool.
Advanced Search: Option to show the equivalent search text
Re: Advanced Search: Option to show the equivalent search text
Take a look at the Everything documentation instead
It can be found online here (and more specific under Date Syntax and Date Constants) and also through the menu (Menu => Help => Search Syntax)
Using that, you will likely find that dm:last1200sec or dm:last20min give the expected results.
After you press the OK button in Advanced Search, the selectd settings will be converted to Everything Search Syntax in the search bar.
Re: Advanced Search: Option to show the equivalent search text
Yes, thanks. I found the "last1200sec" filter type in the docs after I posted the question, so that was a bad example. A more general date range filter is a better example. I had not grasped the "function" descriptions in the help, but then I also hadn't realised this point-

That's exactly the "syntax wizard" type facility i was asking about of course, and once I saw the example it made perfect sense. I have to say as a brand new user of the tool I am very impressed, and rather annoyed I didn't know about it before.

Prepare to be impressed and annoyed many times in the near future
(Everything has lots of nice features and clever solutions that aren't obvious at first glance)
