(I also posted about this problem in another forum on this website)
Everything just got infected with the Win32.user virus on my machine.
The infection got past my antimalware, which always runs, somehow, and was only caught today when I performed a non-automatic scan.
Btw, I performed that scan because I can't get access to any of my records in windows 10; C-drive, Programs, control panel, file explorer, this pc, documents etc.
After several days of denied access, they all began to revert to Everything. When I clicked to open any of those folders, Everything would open up and display a very long series of numbers and letters, with no spaces, but also no results.
One other observation: Everything's normal interface display changed by itself about a week ago. I spent hours trying to figure it out and failing. There was suddenly only one column header; the left one. It had always displayed other headings, especially the location of the files, which is very important for finding the result the user wants quickly.
These changes may very well be caused by the virus, but it's been removed, and I still can't open any of these functions.
Please do review your program for vulnerabilities to infection, remembering that hackers are constantly creating new exploits, so your old measures may not be good enough anymore, and Windows Updates may also create new vulnerabilities. There's really no substitute for keeping a test mule computer and letting hackers assault it constantly.
