Just as the title says, if you have a large archive file containing some images, when selecting this file, Everything stops responding. Possibly because Everything is trying to unzip and generate a thumbnail preview for this file.
To reproduce:
1- Install CBX Shell or Darkthumbs
https://github.com/T800G/CBXShell
https://github.com/fire-eggs/DarkThumbs
2- Enable previews for zip files
3- create a large zip file consisting of images
4- Copy this zip file to a network storage with slow connection to make this more noticeable
5- Enable previews on Everything (View/Preview)
6- Navigate the selection to this file on everything
7- Everything will stop responding until it completes the thumbnail generation
Is it possible to forcibly interrupt this operation when selection changes? At least, it should not freeze everything in Everything.
Preview is slowing down the Everything for large archive files
Re: Preview is slowing down the Everything for large archive files
Does similar happen if you do this with Windows Explorer?
Re: Preview is slowing down the Everything for large archive files
No, it does not happen. At least, the windows explorer responds and you can select another file without problem.
Re: Preview is slowing down the Everything for large archive files
It will be fixed in the next alpha update.
I'll make another post once this is ready for testing.
Thank you for the issue report.
