Is it possible to always retain last query in every new Everything instance, but make it selected so you can easily delete it by typing the new query or pressing backspace
I have Everything close window on executing a command (very convenient not to have to close the window explicitly) but then if I opened the wrong path I'd like to go back to the list and pick a new one, and while you can use the history drop-down, it's not as fast as having it already prefilled
I've checked various advanced options for search/history, but couldn't spot one that would persist a query
Retain search query on window close / execute
Re: Retain search query on window close / execute
Tools -> Options -> Home -> Search = (Use last value)
Re: Retain search query on window close / execute
Oh, sorry
By the way, is there a single (let it be very very long) searchable table document of all the settings with their descriptions? I could paste it in a text editor and do some more efficient search or even use some Excel to search only within a given field
Forum search is unfortunately too broad and the search engine is too simplistic, e.g., even searching for an exact phrase wouldn't show the post that has the same question at the top because exact phrases aren't supported (though before this post I've searched for "clear" and "retain", so wouldn't have caught that one anyway)

"keep search query"
Re: Retain search query on window close / execute
This is unfortunately many different documents, including help which is hosted on this forum with poor search (and I did use the advanced search within Everything, thanks for adding it, but this setting wasn't advanced enough )
And you can't limit to names, eg, common ones like "search" or "query" that would have many hits in the description
Idea: is it possible to index regular settings in the same way as advanced settings so you could also search them from within Everything? I've found a few useful advanced settings that I didn't know existed this way

Re: Retain search query on window close / execute
A search for the basic settings is on my TODO list.
Thank you for the suggestion.
For now, consider about:config
This shows all settings in your text editor.
Use your text editor to do a search.

That's that great first column, with "search" I could limit 3.5k entries down to 196, and if only I could have a second column with description I could find this basic config!
