In a hurry a user may tend to overlook both the filter and modifier (if operated thru shortcut) and may lose out on the results or presume a file is not present. I think the filters and modifiers need a place in the search bar BEFORE THE SEARCH TERM so that the user knows what sort of result he is getting.
1.The FILTER (Folder or Audio)could be permanent unless everything is selected.
2.The modifier if typed or thru shortcut can find a place BOTH in the STATUS BAR and SEARCH BAR.
3.A misspelt modifier can have a different color because it is not functional anyway.
4.A master UNTOGGLE key for all the modifiers at one go.
If this is not preferred by some you may give this as a choice in the option.

Re: Filters and modifiers indication in search bar.
Some interesting ideas here, I will consider them.
I am working on a ''home page'' option which might make this easier.
For example, you could set your ''home page'' to a blank search with all the modifiers off.
ALT + Home would load the ''home page'' for you.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Something like the Windows breadcrumbs could work here.1.The FILTER (Folder or Audio)could be permanent unless everything is selected.
This might be tricky to specify a modifier for the entire search, but could work for single search terms.2.The modifier if typed or thru shortcut can find a place BOTH in the STATUS BAR and SEARCH BAR.
I like the idea of highlighting search modifiers and functions.3.A misspelt modifier can have a different color because it is not functional anyway.
You could do this currently with a bookmark with an assigned hotkey.4.A master UNTOGGLE key for all the modifiers at one go.

In case the user picks up a modifier thru shortcut , it is evident in the statusbar(if chosen) , it persists for further searches too until toggled back. A person may tend to overlook in a hurry. If it is in the search bar the results will be obvious. Might be a choice in options for such intrusions if some users do not prefer.
Re: Filters and modifiers indication in search bar.
Recently I was searching for files "whole word" and forgot to un toggle it, leading to a little surprise in further searches. I hope you are considering some sort of a nag button for "FILTERS" and "MODIFIERS" which are invoked from the file menu.On mouse hover over the buttons they can present to what filters or modifier(s) are active. This is another suggestion on similar lines , some sort of glaring reminder definitely helps , with or without the statusbar /Filters in the main window.

Re: Filters and modifiers indication in search bar.
With the Home page you can now disable whole word when showing a search window.
