Hi,
Part of the coolest thing about Everything is they way it lets one see that the PC is always sort of churning out things - that is, apps themselves doing things to keep their ovens full of loaves of bread no matter...if there's anyone in the bakery!
To wit,
C:\Program
Files\WindowsApps\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_16005.14326.21830.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\images\WeatherIcon_Squalls_Dark.svg
An SVG for a program I'll probably not use today.
Nonetheless! The program, once installed, makes it's own stuff. THat's kinda cool.
This is all by way of preface to...is there some way I can make
Picture
filter that captures...FEWER pictures?
That is, the filter that I have in the dropdown by default grabs images top-to-bottom through the system, whereas I'll mainly be needing just pictures in
My Documents
Or, at best, created by me?
Not sure if THAT second one there is an option, but, otherwise - how to curtail the breadth of the image search of a filter for images?
Sincerely,
Captee
A Constrained Image Search
Re: A Constrained Image Search
To modify your existing filters:
Please consider changing your Picture filter search to:
ext:jpg;png;bmp;gif
Please consider making a My Pictures filter:
- In Everything, from the Search menu, click Organize Filters....
- Select a filter and click Edit.
- Adjust the search as needed.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
Please consider changing your Picture filter search to:
ext:jpg;png;bmp;gif
Please consider making a My Pictures filter:
- In Everything, from the Search menu, click Add to Filters....
- Change the Name to: My Pictures
- Change the Search to: "C:\Users\username\Pictures\"
where username is your username. - Click OK.

Re: A Constrained Image Search
Dr. V!
Ah! Yep, yep. Real good. A lot fewer!
But, still getting lots of system images like:
C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Search_cw5n1h2txyewy\AC\INetCache\LDIM8J1C\trans[1].gif
Couldn't quite follow you on the second suggestion. I found this link searching Google:
search in folder for specific file types
viewtopic.php?t=368
And it suggested:
g:\files\ *.avi|*.flv|*.mpg|*.mpeg|*.mp4
in the Search box
But, that was posted a long while back.
Is that correct, though - put it specifically in the search box of a custom filter? Like:
https://ibb.co/pwNyN8d
Here's my goal, search ONLY in the most common places for me:
My Documents
Downloads
Desktop
(Any others you suggest)
and avoid the system folders using the image extensions you suggested.
What would the syntax look like, and where would the code go?
Sincerely,
Captee

Yes, that will work, but I would adjust it to:Is that correct, though - put it specifically in the search box of a custom filter? Like:
