I was thinking about how often I need to temporarily widen a column.
The instinct is to drag it wider and then drag it back.
There's actually an easier way, which is to drag the column wide without letting go of the mouse and then hit Escape and the column width jumps back again.
Sometimes though it's useful to widen a column or two then browse around a bit and do things and then restore them.
In this respect it would be useful to have an undo/redo system for the column widths and positions which shortcuts could be assigned to roll back temporary column changes. Possibly include pane widths, visibilities and positions so that undoing requires less thinking if one has done a number of momentary changes, you just hit the assigned undo key a couple of times to get back.
But I think sorting shouldn't be included as that's part of a different process of usage.

Re: Temp width changes etc
I will consider an undo system for columns widths and positions.
Thank you for the suggestion.
I also have on my TODO list to add a save/load system for column widths and positions.
