"last" and "past" in date modifier

In an earlier discussion about a possible bug it was suggested to use "past" in preference to "last" as a date modifier.

For example:

dc:past14days

Does this advice still hold? What difference is there between "past" and "last"?

As far as I know that hasn't changed (but I have been away from the forum for the largest part of a couple of months)

Everything 1.5.0.1316a will now treat past and last as the same.
