Client Service
Client Service
Incidentally I installed this Everything.exe -install-client-service in my XP unit. I did mention in this thread here that I am changing the Autostart option for the service from automatic to manual. I am not too sure whether I installed any software later , but at the next start , exactly at the login screen my system hung. I went to the safe mode and checked that the client service entry in service has changed itself to automatic start? once again, the I disabled it.Once again at the log in screen there was a hang. Tried to get back to safe screen , used ERDNT software to restore the main registry back as 2 days ago , system restore etc. No avail. Then at the next safe start , I uninstalled the client service , though it is not immediately reflected and also pushed back the registry by further two days. Luckily it logged in again. There is a lot of roundabout info except for the simple uninstall of service which had to be done.. . For that matter this service may not be intended at all for any general use ....
Re: Client Service
This hang might be caused by allowing the client service to interact with the desktop.
To disallow the client service to interact with the desktop:
Again, I do not recommend you install/run the client service.
The client service is not for general use.
To disallow the client service to interact with the desktop:
- Run services.msc
- Open the properties for the Everything Client service.
- Click the Log On tab.
- Uncheck Allow service to interact with desktop.
Again, I do not recommend you install/run the client service.
The client service is not for general use.
