Microsoft Security detects something wrong with build 1.5.0.1358a

Post by DavidGDFC »

Hi,

Microsoft Security has detected something wrong with Everything-1.5.0.1358a.x64.zip and has simply deleted the file. When I click on "See more details", there's no additional information.

I've just noticed Google Chrome shows the message: "Virus detected".

I'm not seeing any detected viruses on Windows 10 22H2 Windows Security, Windows 11 22H2 Windows Security, VirusTotal or Google Chrome.

Please check the SHA-256 of your Everything download.

The correct SHA-256 is: 3a211589843da0e8a9cc8ce18811fe0be09c22a780b1f558d6a6d4f3339cfcee

I can't check the hash because the file is automatically deleted, but I definitely downloaded it from this website. I'm on Windows 11 22H2 (22621.2428).

Thank you for the information.

I have sent Microsoft a false-positive report.

There is no such problem in my actual Windows 11, including Windows Security.
My fully patched Windows 11 doesn't complain about the Everything-1.5.0.1358a.x64.zip.
A scan with Windows Defender also shows no problems.
None of the scanners on VirusTotal complains.

Thanks, I've already tried it! I try every new alpha to check new features and how things are progressing. The incoming 1.5 looks really good, and as I said in the another thread a few days ago, I'm looking forward to support for multiple file lists.

Thank you for your feedback DavidGDFC,

Microsoft was unable to reproduce any detection on the file.
If the detection is still observed, follow the steps below to capture support log files from the system reporting detection.

From an elevated command prompt, change to directory "%programfiles%\windows defender" and execute mpcmdrun.exe with option GetFiles:
cd "%programfiles%\windows defender"
mpcmdrun.exe -GetFiles

All created log files will be compressed into MPSupportFiles.cab.
Could you please send this file to support@voidtools.com

Please do a full virus scan on your system.

Thank you for the MPSupportFiles.cab file.

Microsoft Defender Response:
The new security intelligence update version [1.399.1311.0] contains changes necessary to resolve your question relating to [Everything].  This new security intelligence update is now available for users who subscribe to the automatic security intelligence update mechanism, as well as users who choose to manually update their security intelligence update library.
Please let me know if the issue persists with the latest Windows Defender update.
(it may take some time for this update to roll out)

Thank you, @void,

I've just scanned the file and I don't have a false positive any more!
