I had installed 1347a, and I used to check for updates regularly. But Everything did not report any updates for several months.
Finally, I felt something was amiss; and checked the website directly; and found that the version had changed to 1351a.
Since I have the latest version, there is no way to test the version check function (does it return a false negative?) till a new version appears.
So I might as well report the issue right away. Kindly check!
Everything is unable to check for the availability of the latest version
Re: Everything is unable to check for the availability of the latest version
Execute once the following in the search field
/beta_updates=1
/beta_updates=1
Re: Everything is unable to check for the availability of the latest version
Done, thanks!
But why is this not happening by default?

Re: Everything is unable to check for the availability of the latest version
Well, the Alpha version should have a tweaked code to check for the latest alpha version, not the stable version!
After all, we are having this alpha run for a very long time, and there have been many many updates.
So now we need this update check within alpha versions.

Re: Everything is unable to check for the availability of the latest version
Thank you for the issue report Raindrops,
I haven't posted update notifications for 1.5.0.1348+ yet.
I'll do this soon.

Re: Everything is unable to check for the availability of the latest version
come to think of it, i also find it odd that the alpha version currently installed does not check by default for the alpha releases. Just to wait for the forum notification, when the mechanism exists in the program.
how about this suggestion: since we are testing for bugs and whatnot, wouldn't it make sense to check for updates that may include possible fixes ?
Right now it is an opt-in choice, but what if instead of telling ppl to enable it manually,
it would be enabled by default, and anyone who wants to stay on their version of the alpha,
which one could logically think is not many, would simply opt-out with /beta_updates=0
Btw, shouldn't there be an /alpha_updates=1 command too?
this way ppl could choose to keep up with the alphas and the betas, or just the alphas or just the betas, or the release version from any version they currently have.
just a thought.

Re: Everything is unable to check for the availability of the latest version
The Everything 1.5 alpha will always use the alpha update channel.
(this cannot be changed)
The beta_updates setting is ignored.
Automatic updating is on my TODO list.
Thank you for the suggestions.

Re: Everything is unable to check for the availability of the latest version
Really just out of curiosity (and without any disrespect):
has this deserved a place that is a little higher on your TODO list in the meantime?
It surely would be great.
Thanks.
