Hide when opening a file

Post by pikifou »

First of all, congrats for this great app !

Most of the time, I use everything to find a file and open it.
It would be great if the application could close / hide when I open the file.

Hope this idea will interest you.
Thanks : :D

To close "Everything" after executing a file or folder:
  • Exit "Everything".
  • Open the Everything.ini file in your "Everything" installation folder with notepad.
  • Add the following line to the end of the Everything.ini:
  • Code: Select all

    close_window_on_execute=1
  • Restart "Everything".
An option to minimize "Everything" after executing a file or folder is on my "Things to do" list.

I'm interested in this feature too - but the ini setting is not enough for my need: from time to time I do want the search windows kept open even after I execute a file/folder; it's better to have a shortcut key for "open file/folder then closes Everything" (Shift-Enter maybe?)

My thoughts exactly. Shift-Enter should make the search window stay, and that's just like the Google Toolbar where shift-enter opens the result in a new window.

Thanks for the .ini tip.
