I am not referring to the app itself, from what I see you are already in development of that.
At present Everything can provide HTTP Server via windows.
My question is whether there is a way to take Everything DB and load on a Nix box to perform searching of the DB.
The advantage is that nix boxes are much cheaper and use less resources than windows just to run an http server.
Assuming this is not possible now, so the question is how difficult a task is it to develop a nix server for searching?
Since I am not a coder, I might be totally off base here, meaning I am not sure how much of the Everything.exe is used to perform searching etc via http
Linux HTTP server
Re: Linux HTTP server
No, not easily. You could export the database to a file list (.EFU textfile) and use that to search through.InfoR3aper wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 4:47 am My question is whether there is a way to take Everything DB and load on a Nix box to perform searching of the DB.
Difficult. Everything is largely based on Windows/NTFS mechanisms. Those can't be translated 1:1 to *nix.InfoR3aper wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 4:47 am so the question is how difficult a task is it to develop a nix server for searching?
However, there are alternatives for Linux. A forum search for "linux" will bring them to light.
