Enable content indexing?

Hi Void. Have I understood some parts of this thread correctly?
I am a small user; one (old) laptop.
A single folder with 80 Word2003 DOCuments, totaling 7 MB, but the folder contains 310 PNG screen snapshots totaling 17MB.
A small user.

If I continue to use Content: as I've been doing for the past month it will probably not be a time-consuming effort; my DOC files, (in total, not just the text part) will probably be sitting in a Windows file buffer area in RAM.

But as I grow in terms of bytes of DOCument text content, then "Content Indexing" might reduce search time significantly, once the Content Index is built.

I noted your comment that "Content:" is, to Everything, Just Another Property.

Thanks, Chris

Moved from Re: High DB File and Failure at the end of Indexing.

You shouldn't notice any performance hit from content indexing 7MB of documents.

Content indexing is only useful if you want instant content searching at the cost of high RAM usage.
Otherwise, store your content on an SSD and search content without content indexing.

Content searching 7MB of text on an SSD will be very fast.

If you have an NVMe SSD, Everything can max out the read speed when reading content from disk (typically 3000+MB/s)

I have about 1GB files with context indexing on a SDD drive.
File types *.doc;*.docx;*.txt;*.xls;*.xlsx;*.odt;*.txt;*.eml;*.csv;*.md;*.ini;*.pdf;*.pptx;*.ppt
There is no performance hit or RAM problem with this :D
The database size is 62MB

I have 130 GB of files. There is some time until indexing is completed, but if I can get the index completed, it works flawlessly (until it needs a re-indexing due to a faulty shut down.)

I guess this amount of data would be better done using Windows indexer and query it from Everything.
How big is your Everything database ?
