Lost/corrupted drive, file paths, database

Post by Boltpow3r »

Greetings,

About 9 hours ago I lost contact with my 8TB drive and cannot restore data from it. With the drive being quite old I'm not sure what kind of content it had. I was thinking if it was possible to use Everything to see file paths that it has saved for this drive so I could get an idea what was on the drive.

Would that be possible and how would I go about it?

Thank you all in advance,

Please backup your Everything.db in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Everything ASAP.

Use db2efu to recover the filenames from your Everything.db

Good luck

Well my pc restarted last night as well. I checked the database and it contains almost nothing. Worse yet there is only about 10 paths saved from the drive that died. There wouldnt happen to be a way to get a past database?

Thanks!

What about looking at File History tab for properties of the .db file in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Everything?
On my machine I can see versions going back at least 6 months?

This relies on having File History backup turned on. Also if you are taking other backups you may have earlier versions?
