hi,
whenever a new version is released I do install. I got 'no alpha instance' in place.
Normally I download and run the installer.
For my understanding: could I also download the 'standalone' , extract the Everything64.exe from the zip, replacing the Everything.exe (renaming it in the process, of course)? Would the result be the same?

Installing updates to Everything 1.5 Alpha
Re: Installing updates to Everything 1.5 Alpha
Yes.
The installed Everything.exe and the portable Everything.exe are both the same executable.
When copying the installer, you'll need to stop the Everything Service, do the copy, then restart the Everything Service.

Thanks a lot David.
Just as a matter of interest: how does this work, then, if anything would change in the Everything-service?

Re: Installing updates to Everything 1.5 Alpha
By updating the Everything64.exe you also have updated the service,
its part of the exe.
Thats the reason why the service must be stopped before updating the exe.

There you go… thanks Horst! I didn’t even know this was at all possible. Regards, kazzy
