hi,
everything.ini I got in three locations:
-C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Everything\Everything.ini
-C:\Program Files\Everything\Everything.ini
-C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Everything\Everything.ini
I think I only need the first one, correct? The others can be deleted I assume. I think they are leftovers from a 1.4 installation that I previously had.
As it happens, my Everything 1.5 (that i run natively as Everything) does not store some of my column settings (no attributes, folder depth and path length). A restart puts Everything back to previous settings. Weird eh?
Kind regards, Kazzy
Everything.ini 3 locations
Re: Everything.ini 3 locations
Everything stores "machine" settings in "C:\Program Files\Everything\Everything.ini"
(machine == all users)
Everything stores "user" settings in "C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Everything\Everything.ini"
Everything doesn't store an Everything.ini in C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Everything
This one can be deleted.
Everything may store an Everything.ini in C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Everything if:
You disable Tools -> Options -> General -> "Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything" and
Everything.exe is located in C:\Program Files\Everything and
You do not have write permission to C:\Program Files\Everything
The portable version of Everything will store settings and data in the same location as your Everything.exe
The setting: Tools -> Options -> General -> Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything can override this behavior.
If Everything is not saving your settings, please make sure:
Tools -> Options -> General -> "Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything" is enabled
-or-
Everything has write permissions to the same location as your Everything.exe.
Please check your home settings under Tools -> Options -> Home -> Columns.
