Just want some clarification, please.
When installing Everything on a RDS host (multiple users) pointed to a Network Index where Everything SERVER is running, should Everything be installed as a service on the client side? I dont care about indexing the RDS's C: drive, for example. and I'm trying to remember how to duplicate this, but could've sworn if you dont install it as a service, you get prompted when you launch Everything to install as a service, run as admin, etc. Forgive me for not being able to find this prompt
Other question: if Monitor Changes is UNCHECKED on the client side under Network Indexes.. is Everything index current each time the user launches the program?
Everything Server - client install

The Everything Service is not required. When installing Everything on a RDS host (multiple users) pointed to a Network Index where Everything SERVER is running, should Everything be installed as a service on the client side? I dont care about indexing the RDS's C: drive
Everything will only prompt to install the Everything Service if you are trying to index a system volume.
Everything will automatically include the system volume: C:
Please disable automatically include new fixed/removable volumes:
- In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the FAT tab.
- Uncheck Automatically include new fixed volumes.
- Uncheck Automatically include new removable volumes.
- Uncheck Automatically remove offline volumes.
- For each FAT volume:
- Uncheck include in database.
- Click the NTFS tab.
- Uncheck Automatically include new fixed volumes.
- Uncheck Automatically include new removable volumes.
- Uncheck Automatically remove offline volumes.
- For each NTFS volume:
- Uncheck include in database.
- Click the ReFS tab.
- Uncheck Automatically include new fixed volumes.
- Uncheck Automatically include new removable volumes.
- Uncheck Automatically remove offline volumes.
- For each ReFS volume:
- Uncheck include in database.
- Click the Network Drives tab.
- Uncheck Automatically include new mapped network drives.
- Uncheck Automatically remove offline mapped network drives.
- For each Network Drive:
- Uncheck include in database.
- Click the Network Indexes tab.
- Setup your network index.
- Click OK.
For now you will need to manually set each client.
No.Other question: if Monitor Changes is UNCHECKED on the client side under Network Indexes.. is Everything index current each time the user launches the program?
Everything will take a snapshot of the server at the time of the initial index.
This snapshot will remain unchanged when you relaunch Everything.
Forcing a rebuild would take a new snapshot.
This can be done from Tools -> Options -> Indexes -> Force Rebuild.
or
Everything.exe -reindex
