These files are offline.

Offline files are rendered with 50% transparency.

OK, thank you for the link.

But before the same USB Stick was not greyed out when being offline. And all of my offline drives (NTFS indedexs) are not greyed out. Why is that?

Some volumes are not detected as offline.

It's on my Things to fix list.

OK, but that USB Stick was shown as "offline". And there never has been (If I remember it right at least) any of the offline indexes / hard drives that were shown greyed out respectively its files and folders (which I would prefer). Could one assign another colour for offline elements or another background or not boldand the online elements bold?

So one has to enter
default: offline_alpha=255
in the search field and press ENTER to get the offline elements displayed like the online one are shown?

While we're here, I'll note...

while a checkdisk is ongoing
said disk is (files are) grayed out (& not accessible)
- i suppose that is normal, expected

(& on completion, they display as normal)

Currently, no.
I will consider color and font style customization for offline volumes.

To disable the offline transparency:
  • Copy and paste the following into your Everything search box:
    /offline_alpha=255
  • Press ENTER in your Everything search box.

Everything will consider volumes that undergoing a disk check as offline.
No changes to the volume will be detected until the disk check completes.
