After a new Win install Everything indexes the same files again?

Post by Biff »

I have installed a new Win on C:. The always online drive I: is unchanged. After the first start of Everything after the install Everything inedexes (again) the same properties on I: obvisouly (although they already were indexed) what lasts extremely long. And abouve all it indexes (according to the display in the status bar) musik files although each property only includes: *.mkv;*.mp4;*.avi;*.iso. Why is that? And why indexing again the same? Not property was added after the install.

Besides of two properties, excluding:

A fresh install of windows would likely delete your Everything.db

Everything will try to reuse your existing indexed properties where possible.

Are you making changes to the I: drive on another PC?
If you make many changes, Everything will need to completely reindex your I: drive.

Do you have automatically remove offline volumes enabled under Tools -> Options -> NTFS?
If so, the index of the I: drive and all the indexed properties of your I: drive are removed from the Everything database when it goes offline.

If you disconnect your I: drive and reconnect your I: drive does Everything try to re-index all the properties on your I: drive again?

Could you please send a screenshot of the settings for each property.

You still have exclude folders for "available free disk size" and "total disk size" set to: \
These need to be set to:

No, it would not at all, it is portable, on another drive, it kept unchanged.
Are you making changes to the I: drive on another PC?
No, no changes, only the normal everyday changes, some files, folders as usual.
If you make many changes, Everything will need to completely reindex your I: drive.
Not that many / big changes, only a few littles ones.
Do you have automatically remove offline volumes enabled under Tools -> Options -> NTFS?
No, never used the option.
If you disconnect your I: drive and reconnect your I: drive does Everything try to re-index all the properties on your I: drive again?
I don't think so, sorry, I cannot try because there are some process running all the time. I will try with another drive.
Could you please send a screenshot of the settings for each property.
